conservation & photography

a life lived through art
Olympia Theofanopoulou was born and raised in Athens. She studied archaeological conservation and museum studies in London at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL. It was then that her interest in photography began, which in time developed into a life-long passion.

Attention to detail and to the various materials and formations in terms of texture, patina and colouration, as well as to the way in which they juxtapose, is a result of her daily contact with archaeological finds and works of art in general.

Soon, her attention to detail extended to subjects of nature – an endless source of inspiration and beauty. The ability to see the various images of nature in a more ‘artistic’ way stems from her parallel interest in painting, in addition to the fact that she was fortunate enough to have travelled and worked in various parts of the globe, thus affording her the opportunity to visit numerous museums and galleries.
